One of Jane’s passions is the ministry known as Operations Christmas Child. The goal is simple: fill a shoebox with items a child who has nothing would enjoy, pray for the child who will receive the box, and Samaritan’s Purse (a Franklin Graham Ministry) will take the shoe boxes and the message of the Gospel to children in need, to countries who may never have heard the message of Christ.
In 2010, Jane decided that it wasn’t enough to just fill shoe boxes and send them. She wanted to take a group from the church and volunteer at the OCC distribution center in Denver, CO. Twenty-one people committed to giving up their Thanksgiving with their family and serving the Lord in Denver. Jane also challenged the church to provide 100 shoe boxes, a goal we met and exceeded (no small feat for a church of our size!)
In 2011, Jane has set an even higher goal for our church to meet. 200 boxes! How do we get there you ask? Fill a box a month, or shop all year long for toys and supplies that can be put in the boxes at the end of the year.
