Elder Jane Cottrell, Corporate Secretary

Jane CottrellI am a native of Tucson, and was born when it was still a dirt road from my grandparent’s house near Speedway and Alvernon all the way to the Tucson Medical Center. I graduated from Rincon High School in 1967, and then completed a degree in Home Ec Education at the U of A. After my search for a teaching job in Home Ec proved unsuccessful, I returned to school for a nursing degree, then worked for St. Mary’s Hospital for 31 years before retiring in 2004.

I have two children by my late husband - Matthew and Julie. I am now married to Warren Cottrell. Warren and I think of ourselves as the founding parents of Living Hope Community Church, since the church met in our living room for the first 8 months of its existence. In fact, the Tuesday Night Bible Study still meets at our house.

I was asked by Pastor Dave to serve as the first Secretary for the church. Being the “Martha” that I am, I quickly agreed, and I have served in that role since the incorporation of the church. I can always be found doing what all Martha’s do, which includes keeping Pastor Dave organized, and bringing him back on the trail when he gets lost.

As far as my faith goes, I came to the Lord during a youth conference that I attended during my freshman year of high school. Since then I’ve tried to live my life as Christ would want me to.
