Purpose & Mission

Living Hope Community Church is a group of sinners who have been and are being transformed by the reality of the Living Hope we have in Jesus Christ, and who earnestly desire to share this hope with everyone. In practice, we gather together for the following purposes: ______________________________________________________________________

worshipWe love our Lord, and want to celebrate Him together. Gathering for worship is central to who we are as a community of believers. Everything we do at Living Hope begins and ends with Worship. And we believe that it is essential for the entire community to worship together. ______________________________________________________________________

prayerImagine it – the King of Kings invites us into His throne room to bring our praises, fears, requests, frustrations, doubts, thanksgivings & affirmations. We believe that there is no power in prayer, but there is ultimate power in the One we pray to. We also believe that one of the best ways to get to know our God is to spend time in prayer. So, we strive to be a community that prays - that goes to God in prayer intentionally, & intercedes for one another constantly. ______________________________________________________________________

discipleship We believe that God desires intimate relationships with His people. Worship & prayer are two of the ways we experience that. And we also believe that God’s Word teaches us about God, about ourselves, about the created world, and about the relationship God desires with us. For this reason we prize the study and teaching of the Bible – to hear God speak and apply His Word to our lives. ______________________________________________________________________

Intergenerational Fellowship Too often we see Christians separate themselves by age groups, & rarely join together in common activities. While we acknowledge that age-appropriate activities are important for spiritual growth & forming relationships, we also believe that to perpetually separate the church is lose our identity as the Body of Christ. We believe that each generation has something important to share with all others, & we will seek ways to be in fellowship together without segregation. ______________________________________________________________________

Mission & Evangelism It is in the very nature of Christianity – revealed through the example of Jesus Himself – to reach out into the lives of others. Living Hope desires to find ways of reaching outside the “walls” of the church to make genuine contact with those around us – to care for them, provide for them, minister to them, and share with them the good news that Jesus is alive and well and passionately in love with them. ______________________________________________________________________

homegrownFaithOne of the most important mandates of the church and the family is to pass on our faith to our children. Living Hope desires to do this not only in the formal ministries of the church – worship, discipleship, etc. – but also by empowering families and partnering with them in this endeavor. ______________________________________________________________________

mentoringWe believe that one of the goals of the church – the community of believers – is to edify and encourage one another. As we do, we will help each other identify our unique gifts and talents, and find opportunities to use them. ______________________________________________________________________

We do not perform any of these activities as religious chores. We do not do these things to perpetuate the church, or elevate ourselves, or find personal moral satisfaction. We do this because we have a living hope in the resurrected Christ. Because of our living hope, we worship God and pray to Him. Because of our living hope, we study God’s word and seek to pass on our faith. Because of our living hope, we  desire to reach out to those who need it. We invite you to join our fellowship. Come and experience the Living Hope! (1 Peter 1:3)
