(April) Connections Event – “Coffee Night”

(April) Connections Event – “Coffee Night”

On Friday, April 29th, the Connections group (and then some) gathered at Roadrunner Cafe for Coffee Night. Roadrunner let us have the place to ourselves from 6pm-8pm. We got coffee and enjoyed talking and spending time with each other. Everyone was instructed to bring their favorite quote (or one they liked a lot). Towards the end of the evening, the quotes were read aloud and the group had to guess who brought the quote. Some were challenging. Some were so easy it was funny, and others were profound and inspiring. We thought we would share the quotes with you here.

When a defining moment comes along, you can do one of two things: define the moments or let the moment define you.

A gold medal is a wonderful thing. But if you’re not enough without it, you’ll never be enough with it.

Accept that some days you’re the pigeon and some days you’re the statue.

For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need. (Philippians 4:13)

You should never pick your neighbor’s nose.

It takes great courage to stand up to your enemies but even more to stand up to your friends.

Follow your dreams.

Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway. (John Wayne)

If you board the wrong train, it’s no use running along the corridor in the other direction.

We are like fish in a filthy, dirty, polluted lake. Jesus is a fisherman with lines in the water, waiting for us to let Him reel us in. We have the choice to take the bait or dwell in the dirty lake. Wen we let God reel us in, He takes us to the clean, pure lake. We’re incapable of getting to the lake ourselves. Jesus has to lead us there.

Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country. (JFK)

Real isn’t how you are made. Its a think that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, lon time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become real. ‘Doesn’t it hurt?’ ‘Sometimes. When you are real you don’t mind getting hurt.’

What you are is God’s gift to you, what you become is your gift to God. (Anonymous)

Take what you can. Give nothing back. (Pirates of the Caribbean)

If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.

It is a parent’s role to both impose and impart.

If we ever forget that we are on nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under. (Reagan)

‘I don’t want to go with mad people,’ Alice said. ‘Well, you can’t help that. We’re all mad here.’ Cheshire said.

I’m not sure there is an afterlife, but I’m going to pack an extra pair of underwear, just in case.

The best revenge is a successful life.
